The FEI World Cup TM Jumping is widely considered the most prestigious and influential equestrian event to be held on a yearly basis. Now entering its 31st season, the FEI World Cup TM Jumping has had a considerable influence on the sport throughout the world. It has been the prime mover in enhancing jumping in more than one area- notably Australia, Asia, Eastern Europe and the Arab World. From an original of two leagues, Europe and North America, there are now twelve, spanning the Globe. The League is made-up from all countries that are Group VII members, and consists of a maximum of twelve World Cup Competitions. These competitions are held at events organized, throughout the season, in various Arab Nations. The season starts in September and ends the following March- while the Final is always held in April. The 2007/08 Season Final was held in Gothenburg, Sweden. One Arab rider: Abdulla El-Marri UAE was qualified and able to participate. The 2008/09 Final will be back again in Las Vegas, Nevada- USA. For the coming World Cup Final, the two riders with the best score on points from the Arab League will be eligible to participate. The League has developed further to encompass most high- level questrian activities. The League venue is from now on to provide for qualification to the World Equestrian Games and the Olympics. Selected events at selected competitions have been chosen to provide for such qualifications- for the first time in Arab equestrianism history. There is no doubt that, as elsewhere, the FEI World Cup TM Jumping will greatly benefit Arab equestrianism. By providing a set agenda of serious and well organized World Cup Competitions, the overall level of equestrianism in the region cannot but evolve. Arab equestrianism will be no more in the peripheral, but rather in the mainstream. We hope this season, and the many more to come, will fulfill the aspirations of the many Arab riders who seek excellence at the top of the equestrian sport. Good Luck to all Jihad J.
